Anemia is a condition where your blood cells lack sufficient amount of hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is iron-rich protein which provides blood its red color. This protein helps red blood cells carry oxygen from lungs to different parts of the body. Anemia can be easily treated. You can even prevent some types of anemia from occurring if you could follow a healthy diet. Other types can be treated with dietary supplement. There are certain types of anemia which are severe and long lasting, if not diagnosed and treatment is given in time. Please note that you cannot treat inherited anemia like sickle cell anemia. Certain types of anemia which are caused by lack of iron or vitamins can be prevented by dietary changes or supplements. You should treat the underlying cause of anemia to prevent repeat episodes. If medicine is the reason for your anemia, your doctor may suggest another type of medicine.
